The forum, guided by the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, was held at FNU on November 25. It was jointly hosted by the Chinese National Academy of Arts, Fujian Academy of Social Sciences, Taiwan Shih Hsin University, Fujian Institute for Integrated Development Across the Taiwan Strait, and FNU, and co-organized by the National Federation of Taiwan Compatriots Cross-Strait Cultural Exchange Base and Taiwan Wanjuanlou Books Company. Sun Yafu, Vice Chairman of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, Yang Yizhou, Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, Liu Xiaoxin, Vice President of Fujian Academy of Social Sciences, Liang Jinxing, General Manager of Wanjuanlou Books Company, and FNU Vice President Zheng Jiajian, attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Zhou Qingfu, President of the Chinese National Academy of Arts, and Chen Qinghe, President of Shih Hsin University, addressed the forum via video link. More than 170 experts and scholars from scientific research institutions, and colleges and universities on both sides of the Taiwan Strait attended the event.
The forum, with the theme of “Pooling Cross-Strait Cultural Strength to Promote Chinese Modernization,” consisted of five sub-forums: “Cross-Strait History and Culture,” “Cross-Strait Integrated Development of Education,” “New Perspectives on Cross-Strait Literature,” “Art Integration in Cross-Strait Culture,” and “Cross-Strait Young Scholars Forum.” In the keynote speech session, Prof. Guo Dan of FNU College of Chinese Language and Literature, Qi Jialin, Chairman of the Alliance for the Reunification of China, Li Xizhu, Secretary-General of the Taiwan History Research Center at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Sun Ruoyi, head of the Department of History at Taiwan Chung Hsing University, Lan Bozhou, Chairman of the Gu Jinliang Culture Foundation, Prof. Zhu Shuangyi of Graduate Institute for Taiwan Studies of Xiamen University, Prof. Wang Qingtai of Taiwan University of Arts, Lin Weiwen, Researcher at Fujian Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Prof. Xie Daning of Taiwan Fo Guang University, and Huang Qingxian, Director of Nankai University’s Taiwan Politics Research Center, delivered wonderful academic speeches respectively. The participants engaged in in-depth discussions on related topics.
Since its inception in 2013, the Cross-Strait Cultural Development Forum has been successfully held nine times and has been frequently listed in the key exchange projects related to Taiwan by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council. It has now developed into an important platform for scholars from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to exchange ideas and deepen cooperation.
