Recently, associate professor Li Li et al. of the FNU National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center of Industrial Microorganism Fermentation Technology, the College of Life Science(CLS) published a research paper titled “Genome Mining and Assembly-Line Biosynthesis of the UCS1025A Pyrrolizidinone Family of Fungal Alkaloids”in Journal of the American Chemical Society.
The search for natural active product has always been an important research field in drug development. Byusing genome mining, Li Li et al. discovered from Myceliophthora thermophilaa natural product UCS1025A that hasnovel complex trijunction heterocycle structure and strong anti-tumor activity (by inhibiting telomerase activity). Their discoveryhas not only revealed the biosynthetic mechanisms and pathways of UCS1025A at the genetics and biochemistry level and but also achieved efficient expression of UCS1025A in heterologous hosts through genetic engineering techniques.
The Journal of the American Chemical Society is the flagship magazine of the American Chemical Society. A preeminent journal in the field, it publishes the latest research results in chemistry and related interdisciplines. The most citedjournal in chemistry, it has a latest Science Citation Index impact factor of 13.858.
