The China Population Geography 2023 Annual Conference was held in Qishan Campus of Fujian Normal University from June 9 to 11, sponsored by the Commission on Population Geography of Geographical Society of China (GSC) and the Commission of Population Migration and Urbanization of China Population Association, undertaken by the School of Geographical Sciences and the School of Carbon Neutrality Future Technology of FNU, and co-sponsored by the Geographical Society of Fujian, the Institute of Geography and the Center for Population and the Development Research of FNU. Nearly 200 delegates from 80 universities and research institutes at home and abroad attended the meeting, including Prof. Yang Yusheng, Vice President of FNU, Prof. Darren Smith, Chairman of the Commission on Population and Geography of International Geographical Union and fellow of the British Academy of Social Sciences, the researcher Wang Jiao’e from Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences and some other special guests. Prof. Yang Yusheng, Zhang Guoyou, Vice President and Secretary-General of GSC, and Zhu Yu, Directer of Commission on Population Geography of GSC, delivered speeches on conference successively.
Prof. Darren Smith and Researcher Wang Jiao’e gave special reports respectively entitled Achievements of China's Population Geography from a Contemporary Perspective and Travel Research for the Elderly: New Issues and New Methods. Prof. Sheng Jianfa from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Prof. Tang Shuangshuang from Nanjing Normal University and Researcher Liu Tao from Peking University gave keynote reports of the conference. Seven sub-venues were set up at the conference, where experts, scholars and graduate students jointly discussed the new achievements, new ideas and new viewpoints of China's population geography and its related fields. The first working conference of the Commission on Population Geography of GSC was held during this conference.
