From May 29 to May 30, the 7th Provincial Mock Trial Competition of Colleges and Universities was held on FNU’s Qishan campus. The event was sponsored by the Education Department of Fujian Province, organized by FNU and Fujian Law Society, and co-organized by Mentors Law Firm. Teams from 17 colleges and universities in Fujian participated in the contest. The judge panel was composed of expert law practitioners from the courts, the procuratorates, and law firms.
The contest consisted of three rounds: the preliminary, the semi-final and the final. Simulating real court debates, all cases used were adapted from real court cases. The tense and heated competition was an exciting game featuring integration of theoretical knowledge and practical application, constructive brainstorming and eloquent speeches. After three rounds of fierce competition, the Law School of FNU brought home the first prize, holding the top spot in a row with outstanding performance, showing both the excellent spirits of FNU students and their fine debate tradition.
The “Mentors Cup” Mock Trial Competition is a provincial inter-collegiate event featuring disciplinary skill contest, aims to promote teaching and learning of the discipline and promote exchanges of teaching results between colleges and universities across the province. It is a well-established platform for law students to enhance their legal reasoning, debating abilities and comprehensive strengths, show their professionalism, gain practical experience, and exchange ideas. This year’s competition decided 1 first prize, 1 second prize, and 2 third prize winners.
