Recently, the launch ceremony of Centennial Academic Books Series by College of Chinese Language and Literature of FNU (VII) and the 7th Cross-Straits Symposium on Chinese Literature, co-hosted by the College of Chinese Language and Literature of FNU and the Department of Chinese of Taiwan Normal University, and sponsored by Taiwan Wan Juanlou Books Co., Ltd., was held in Fuzhou and in Taipei both online and offline. Zheng Jiajian, Vice President of FNU, and nearly 100 other experts and scholars from more than 10 universities, academic institutions and the publishing industry, including Taiwan University, Taiwan Normal University, University of Taipei, Shih Hsin University, and Taiwan Wan Juanlou Books Co., Ltd., attended the event.
At the opening ceremony, in his speech Zheng Jiajian expressed his heartfelt respect and gratitude to the authors of the ten books of Series VII, published as scheduled, and Taiwan Wan Juanlou Books Co., Ltd., and said that FNU will complete the publishing project of 100 books of 10 series by 2025, to further contribute to the cross-straits cultural and educational exchanges and cooperation.
Li Xiaorong, Dean of the College of Chinese Language and literature of FNU, Chen Yiyuan, Chairman of the Chinese Language Association of Taiwan, Ye Jiande, Chairman of the Chinese Language Education Association of Taiwan, Zhang Xiaosheng, Vice President of University of Taipei, Xu Fuchang, former Vice Dean of the College of Liberal Arts of Taiwan University, Li Zhihong, Dean of the Department of Chinese of Taiwan Normal University, and Liang Jinxing, General Manager of Wan Juanlou Books Co., Ltd., delivered speeches to express their congratulations on the launch of the new books, and their appreciation of the achievements of the Publishing Project of Centennial Academic Excellence into Taiwan.
The ten books of Series VII are written by scholars from the College of Chinese Language and literature, the College of Sociology and History, the College of Music, the College of Fine Arts and the Center for Studies of Fujian and Taiwan of FNU. In terms of history, there are four books: American Culture and Diplomacy by Professor Wang Xiaode, The Origin and Development of Folk Beliefs in Fujian and Taiwan by Professor Lin Guoping, The History of Christianity in Taiwan by Professor Lin Jinshui; and The World of Others: Missionaries Coming to China in the Late Qing Dynasty and Fujian Social Culture by Fellow Wu Weiwei. In terms of literature and arts, focusing on the field of poetics, there are also four books: Essays on Modern Chinese Poetry by Professor Wang Guangming, Research on the Legitimacy of Early New Poetry by Professor Wu Mingchun, Ballads and New Chinese Poetry by Professor Chen Peihao, and Essays and Poetry and Literature in Qing Dynasty by Professor Wang Bing. In terms of art, there are two books: Folk Art in Fujian and Taiwan by Professor Li Yumin, and A Study of Folk Terms in Traditional Chinese Music by Professor Chen Xinfeng. At the 7th Cross-Straits Symposium on Chinese Literature, the scholars on both sides of the Taiwan Straits conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the main contents of the ten works.
At the symposium, the College of Chinese Language and Literature of FNU and Wan Juanlou Books Co., Ltd. held the publishing signing ceremony of the Centennial Academic Books Series by College of Chinese Language and Literature of FNU (VIII).
It is learned that since the launch of the Publishing Project of Academic Excellence into Taiwan in 2014, the College of Chinese Language and Literature of FNU has published 70 works, and all of them have been presented to related universities, cultural and academic research institutions, libraries, and well-known scholars in Taiwan and countries along the Belt and Road in the name of FNU, with a total of more than 700 sets, generating enthusiastic responses in the cultural and educational circles on both sides of the Taiwan Straits.
