FNU Co-hosts the 8th National Symposium on Stable Isotope Ecology and the 2022 Annual Meeting of ESC Stable Isotope Ecology Professional Committee

From November 9th to 10th, through videoconferencing and live webcast, the conference was jointly hosted by the Stable Isotope Ecology Professional Committee of Ecological Society of China (ESC) and FNU, and organized by School of Geographical Sciences and School of Carbon Neutrality Future Technology of FNU. 350 experts and scholars from more than 180 universities and scientific research institutions registered for the conference, including Peking University, Tsinghua University (THU), Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tianjin University and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), with over 17, 900 online viewers in total.

Professor Wang Yanfen, vice-president of ESC and executive vice-president of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Yang Yusheng, vice-president of FNU, and Lin Guanghui, professor of THU and director of the Stable Isotope Ecology Professional Committee, delivered a speech respectively at the opening ceremony.

30 renowned experts and scholars at home and abroad were invited to give presentations about the latest research results and progress, including Professor Chen Jingming, fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Yu Guirui, fellow of CAS, Professor Gabriel J Bowen of University of Utah, Professor Naohiko Ohkouch of Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology, Professor Lin Guanghui of THU, Liu Shuangjiang, fellow of CAS Institute of Microbiology, Professor Yang Yusheng of FNU, Fang Yunting, fellow of CAS Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology, Professor Bernd Schön and Professor Thomas Tütken of Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, Professor Hans Schnyder of Technical University of Munich, Professor Guillaume Tcherkez of Australian National University, Professor Shi Dalin of Xiamen University, and Feng Youzhi, fellow of CAS Nanjing Institute of Soil.

The conference included 16 theme reports, 83 special reports, and 16 academic posters, where 8 Outstanding Report Awards and 6 Best Posters were selected. Meanwhile, ESC Stable Isotope Ecology Professional Committee held its annual working conference to select the new Stable Isotope Ecology Professional Committee, discussed the issues about future academic meetings and trainings, and formulated next year’s work plans.
