The painting exhibition was opened in RTVS gallery (RTVS / Radio and Television of Slovakia). More than 300 honored guests participated in the opening ceremony, including Ms. Jarmila Urbancova, Vice-President of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic, Mullansky, Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, dignitaries from all walks ranging from political figures, businessmen to educators and artists, ambassadors of different countries to Slovakia, and representatives of Chinese in Slovakia. Lin Lin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Slovakia, addressed the opening ceremony.
Ambassador Lin said that Slovakia is an important country along the Belt and Road, and the “people-to-people bond” is a crucial part of the Belt and Roadinitiative (B&R). He believed that this painting exhibition, which showed the unique charm of Chinese culture and the silk road, would contribute to bringing both China and B&R closer to the Slovak people, promoting exchanges and mutual learning between artists of the two countries, and strengthening the friendship between China and Slovakia.
This painting exhibition displayed a collection of works: Love on the Silk Road by professor Weng Zhenxin, Director of the China Artist Association, President of Fujian Artist Association and the former dean of College of Fine Art in Fujian Normal University. Its Figure Painting series contained four themes: Hui’an women, Chinese minority figures, Chinese ancient characters in Tang poetry and Song lyrics, and foreign characters. Among them, the theme of Hui’an women was inspired by Hui’an women in Quanzhou city, the starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road. The painting exhibition, lasting 25 days, was jointly organized by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Slovak Republic, China Culture Academy of Painting & Calligraphy, and Association of Free Artists of Slovakia.
