On May 30, the opening ceremony of the summer camp of “Roots-searching Journey” for Filipino Chinese teenagers – the sub-camp in FNU was held in Hongda Hall of Qishan campus. The camp is hosted by All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, undertaken by Fujian Province Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and FNU and co-organized by the league of Alumni Associations in the Philippines. Zhang Yao, vice president of Fujian Province Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Li Zhaohui, president, and Shi Xinjiang, vice president of the league of Alumni Associations in the Philippines, as well as teachers and students from College of Overseas Education, along with 67 Pilipino-Chinese adolescents and their leader, attended the ceremony.
It is reported that the sub-camp in FNU is the first “Roots-searching Journey” camp held in Fujian Province this year. The camp will last for ten days. Practical curriculums will be arranged during the camp, such as Interesting Chinese Characters, Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Paper-cut and Chinese Knot. Besides, the campers will visit Fuzhou, Putian and Jinjiang for learning, visiting and exchanging.
